NEWS AND VIEWS THAT IMPACT LIMITED CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENT

"There is danger from all men. The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with
power to endanger the public liberty." - - - - John Adams

Voters rewarded the GOP for gov't shutdown in the 1990s

The 1990s GOP Congress shows Bill Clinton what real political power is all about.

People Respect Strength
The voters were so "angry" with the GOP for shutting
down the government that they gave the Republicans
control for the next ten years.

I find it entertaining how many Republicans want to re-write their own history.

You see big government loving leftist idiots like Karl Rove on TV who are frightened to death of a government shutdown.  They go on and on about how the 1990s government shutdown damaged the party.

But the truth is these establishment types hate the very thought of a single dime not getting to the D.C. to fund the welfare state.

Facts are facts.  Be it the shutdowns or the impeachment of the great whore Bill Clinton, the voters liked what they saw and keep the GOP in power in election after election.

Voters respected strength and the GOP platform of smaller government.

The Shutdown Helped the GOP
Instead of hurting Republicans, the 1990s government shutdown told the voters that the GOP was serious.  The voters returned the GOP majority to the House for the next five elections in a row.
