Fiorina: ‘I Will Not Replace a Single’ Retiring Federal Bureaucrat

Is it just more Bullshit?

  • I am at the point that I believe everyone is a liar.
  • I can't speak to what is in Carly's heart, but the "small government" Republican Party controls Congress right now and nothing even happens to shrink government.
  • Maybe Carly will make this happen or maybe it is just the same old song and dance bullshit.

(CNS News) -- Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina said that if elected, she will not replace a quarter of a million federal workers set to retire over the next few years.

“I will say as president of the United States, 256,000 baby boomers are going to retire out of the federal government in the next four or five years. I will not replace a single one,” Fiorina told Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday.

According to the Government Accountability Office, 30 percent of the approximately two million federal workers who were employed in September 2012 will be able to retire by September 2017.

Fiorina compared the federal government to the Hewlett-Packard Company she previously ran as CEO. During Fiorina’s tenure at Hewlett-Packard, the company’s stock plunged and it laid off approximately 30,000 employees.

“The hardest thing for a chief executive to do is to tell someone that they don’t have a job anymore, And that’s why we provided the richest severance packages in the industry. It’s why we provided employees with counseling so that they could go on and find another job.

“But when you have a big, bloated bureaucracy that costs too much, that is becoming inept, and by the way that’s what we have in Washington D.C., then there are some jobs that have to go away,” Fiorina said.
