The Uber of Poo - Mobile Poo Stations

It's a Crappy Job

(Beta News)  -  Look, it isn't exactly a pleasant topic, but we all need to use the potty (toilet, loo, etc.). As much as we humans want to think we are somehow above the rest of the animals on Earth, we have to pee and poop just like bears, dogs, and other creatures. It is nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, there is even a very popular children's book called "Everybody Poops."
Believe it or not, it is not easy to go to the bathroom in NYC. Many store restrooms have keypads, requiring you to buy something to get the access code on a receipt. Don't have any money? Tough luck! I have seen people rooting through garbage cans for receipts just to find a receipt and code. Even when you finally gain access, it isn't always clean -- yuck! Thanks to toilet paper-maker Charmin, there is finally a solution. Called "Van-GO," it is an on-demand mobile toilet service that is sort of like Uber -- but for poop and pee.
"Today you can get anything delivered on-demand except the one thing you really need -- a bathroom when you have to go. Until now! Charmin is piloting Charmin Van-GO, the first-ever on-demand mobile bathroom service, in New York City on June 21 and June 22.  New Yorkers can visit CharminVanGo.com and follow the simple directions to request a Charmin Van-GO. With just a few clicks, a totally private and super clean bathroom can be delivered directly to people in select NYC neighborhoods," says Charmin.
Janette Yauch, Associate Brand Director, Charmin explains, "At Charmin, we're always looking to bring people the best bathroom experience, both at home with our tissue and in new and unexpected ways. With the Charmin Van-GO, we are providing one of the largest, most-trafficked cities in the world a new way to Enjoy the Go…on the go."

Communists Ban Internet Streaming

Thought Crime
Only listen to government approved content

(Radio Free Asia)  -  China's powerful media regulator has issued shutdown orders to three leading video streaming sites amid a nationwide crackdown on online media.

Microblogging platform Sina Weibo, popular online video site ACFUN and news portal iFeng.com have been ordered to halt video streaming services that violate regulations restricting online media, the TV and film watchdog said on Thursday.

The State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT) announced the move in a statement on its official website, saying it was part of a bid to create "a clean online environment."

The move comes after the agency announced a ban last December on user-generated audio and video, in a country where all news is controlled by the ruling Chinese Communist Party.

The rules said that any audio or video content posted by users must have government approval in the form of transmission licenses.

Social media providers are also required to limit audio and video content to that produced by state-approved providers, who already hold an "audiovisual online transmission license," it said.

Such licenses are very hard to obtain, are generally not held by online content providers, and are only held by some 300 organizations in China, sources told RFA at the time.

Shares in SINA Corp and Weibo Corp fell on Friday on the news, Reuters reported.

Hebei-based veteran journalist Zhu Xinxin said the government is afraid that spontaneous online video could spark political reactions among Chinese people.

"The Chinese Communist Party is controlling this sort of things, because they are mostly afraid that somebody could post anything at any time showing some breaking news in any part of the country," he said. "In particular, they don't want to see any kind of mass incident."

"In addition, the government doesn't want the general public to hear about news that shows it in an unfavorable light," he said. "They are afraid that social media users will leak stuff like that, and tell the whole world about it."

Wonder Woman

A Wonder of a Woman

By Gary;

I have been so busy opening up a new business that I forgot to do my review of Wonder Woman, and with politics driving me crazy here we go for something different.

Needless to say this movie is light years beyond the crappy 1970s TV show.

The big drawback to the movie is Zack Snyder was not the director, only the producer and writer.

Zack has done wonderful work bringing characters alive in films like Watchmen, 300 and Man of Steel.  I believe his missing magic touch kept Wonder Woman from soaring to the level of a film like Iron Man.

That being said, the movie did soar. Beautiful special effects, a fairly good plot and Gal Godot as an excellent Wonder Woman.

The long opening origin segment ate up a lot of screen time but was very well done.  The "fish out of water" portion of Diana in London was OK, but that theme was far better done in Thor.

But the best part of the movie was Diana facing down Ares, the God of War.  A superhero must always face a super villain. Superman vs bank robbers story lines were always a joke.

All in all a very entertaining outing well worth the price of admission.

Zack Snyder will get his chance to direct Wonder Woman in this November's Justice League movie.  And yes I will be there on opening day

CIA torture chambers in Yemen

Looks Like CIA Torture is Back

  • But what I don't understand is my "small government" GOP friends cheering on a big faceless government secret police system torturing prisoners.

(AP) -- Hundreds of men swept up in the hunt for al-Qaida militants have disappeared into a secret network of prisons in southern Yemen where abuse is routine and torture extreme - including the "grill," in which the victim is tied to a spit like a roast and spun in a circle of fire, an Associated Press investigation has found.

Senior American defense officials acknowledged Wednesday that U.S. forces have been involved in interrogations of detainees in Yemen but denied any participation in or knowledge of human rights abuses. Interrogating detainees who have been abused could violate international law, which prohibits complicity in torture.

The AP documented at least 18 clandestine lockups across southern Yemen run by the United Arab Emirates or by Yemeni forces created and trained by the Gulf nation, drawing on accounts from former detainees, families of prisoners, civil rights lawyers and Yemeni military officials. All are either hidden or off limits to Yemen's government, which has been getting Emirati help in its civil war with rebels over the last two years.

The secret prisons are inside military bases, ports, an airport, private villas and even a nightclub. Some detainees have been flown to an Emirati base across the Red Sea in Eritrea, according to Yemen Interior Minister Hussein Arab and others.

Several U.S. defense officials, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the topic, told AP that American forces do participate in interrogations of detainees at locations in Yemen, provide questions for others to ask, and receive transcripts of interrogations from Emirati allies. They said U.S. senior military leaders were aware of allegations of torture at the prisons in Yemen, looked into them, but were satisfied that there had not been any abuse when U.S. forces were present.

In a statement to the AP, the UAE's government denied the allegations.

"There are no secret detention centers and no torture of prisoners is done during interrogations."

(Editor - a careful PR statement honoring Bill Clinton's "definition of what is is.")

Inside war-torn Yemen, however, lawyers and families say nearly 2,000 men have disappeared into the clandestine prisons, a number so high that it has triggered near-weekly protests among families seeking information about missing sons, brothers and fathers.

A Solar Powered Trump Border Wall

An Environmentally Correct Solar Wall
I don't care if Trump is serious about solar panels.
Just proposing a "Green Wall" will drive Libs insane

(Infowars)  -  A “big, beautiful” wall between the US and Mexico is coming soon and could produce clean energy, the president stated Wednesday.
Speaking at a rally in Iowa, President Trump reiterated his plan to build a southern border wall and proposed incorporating solar panels in order to lower the structure’s cost.
“Yes we will build the wall, we’ve already started planning. It will be built,” the president told the Cedar Rapids crowd to tremendous applause.
“I’ll give you an idea that nobody has heard about yet and – I’m not sure, but I’m a builder, that’s what I love to do, that’s probably what I do best – and we’re thinking of something that’s unique – we’re talking about the southern border, lots of sun, lots of heat – we’re thinking of building the wall as a solar wall so that it creates energy and pays for itself.”

The president has long insisted Mexico would ultimately end up paying for the wall, and he argued adding solar panels could help decrease the nation’s burden.
“This way Mexico will have to pay much less money, and that’s good, right?” Trump said.
It’s been estimated the wall could cost anywhere between $12 to $70 billion, though the DHS has put the cost at $21.6 billion.
“I mean actually think of it: the higher it goes, the more valuable it is,” Trump added jokingly.
Axios reported earlier this month that Trump had discussed plans to add solar panels to the wall during a meeting with Republican leaders.
“Trump said his vision was a wall 40 feet to 50 feet high and covered with solar panels so they’d be ‘beautiful structures,’ the people said. The President said that most walls you hear about are 14 feet or 15 feet tall but this would be nothing like those walls,” reported Jonathan Swan.
In April, as many as 450 companies submitted designs to be considered for the 2,000 mile wall, which would stretch from Texas through New Mexico all the way to California.
Among the proposals is a solar wall design concept from Gleason Partners, which would cost around $6 million per mile.

1984 The Eternal War - Congress Abdicates Their Power

"In accordance to the principles of doublethink, it does not matter if the war is not real, or when it is, that victory is not possible. The war is not meant to be won. It is meant to be continuous.

The essential act of modern warfare is the destruction of the produce of human labour. A hierarchical society is only possible on the basis of poverty and ignorance. In principle, the war effort is always planned to keep society on the brink of starvation. The war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects, and its object is not victory over Eurasia or Eastasia, but to keep the very structure of society intact."

- George Orwell
"1984"

  • Eternal War  -  The bipartisan Military-Industrial Complex has found the perfect eternal enemy: Islam.  If you follow the Constitution you declare war on Germany, Japan or Spain. But then you need to make peace with those nations once the war ends.
  • But 1,400 years of aggression by Islam all you need do is claim you are fighting amorphous "Terrorists". You never have to make peace because there is no one to make peace with. Plus you always use terror to justify expanding the 1984 Police Surveillance State.
  • Congress has deliberately abdicated their power to declare war, but no matter what Congress keeps the $$$$ flowing to the Military-Industrial Complex to fund the wars they like to claim they are concerned about.

(Miami Herald)  -  Senators from both parties agreed Tuesday that it was long past time for Congress to enact a new law authorizing the evolving war against Islamic terrorist groups, while also raising questions about the legal basis for the Trump administration’s escalating direct military confrontations with Syrian government forces.
But over the course of a 90-minute hearing before the Foreign Relations Committee, it was clear that policy disagreements that thwarted previous efforts to update the authorization to use military force against the perpetrators of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks — a law that three presidents have used to justify combat against foes and in countries far beyond al-Qaida in Afghanistan – remain daunting.

“Some members of Congress will use this debate for the singular purpose of imposing limitations on our president — it’s just a fact,” said Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., the chairman of the committee. “Others may refuse to limit a president at war in any way. That’s a fact. And that is a wide gap to bridge.”
The hearing was the latest in a yearslong series of congressional debates over what, if anything, to do about the open-ended Sept. 11 war authorization. The executive branch has stretched the law to encompass war against enemies with only tenuous links to the original al-Qaida, which has proved controversial, and senators disagreed Tuesday about whether it covered the Islamic State, as the Obama administration first claimed.
Asked at a luncheon Monday at the National Press Club in Washington what legal basis the United States had to attack Syrian government forces, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr., claimed the authority stemmed from the 2001 law because the U.S. military presence in Syria was predicated on fighting al-Qaida and the Islamic State there.
But on Tuesday, the ranking Democrat on the Senate committee, Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin of Maryland, said, “The most recent use of this, in regards to activities in Syria, certainly had nothing to do with the attack on our country on September the 11th.”

Conservative Guerrilla Art - Meet Sabo

Freedom of Speech Drives Libs Nuts

(The Guardian)  -  In the Trump era, the right, however, has its own guerrilla artist: Sabo, a former US marine who works from an apartment-cum-studio in Los Angeles beneath a sign that says “Fuck Tibet”. Another says “Fuck peace”.

Under cover of darkness, he peppers public spaces in LA with images and slogans targeting liberals, whom he associates with “pot-smoking lazy bums” hostile to western values. He puts the same images and slogans on posters, T-shirts and pins which he sells from his website and at Republican party gatherings across the US.

“I think leftism is a mental disorder,” Sabo, 49, said in an interview at his home. “I truly believe I’m fighting the good fight.”

Love the shirt

The fight is proving lucrative. After a decade of inflammatory guerrilla art which yielded little money or recognition, Sabo is on a roll plastering images of Donald Trump, and most recently Milo Yiannopoulos, across LA.
In a city thrumming with opposition to the president, the artist is part of the resistance to the resistance, a figure feted in Republican circles who appears on Fox News, Breitbart, the Blaze and other conservative media outlets. No longer behind on his rent or scrounging to buy a burger, he has bought a $7,000 industrial-size printer which fills a corner of his apartment.
“Republicans are the new punk,” said Sabo, echoing a slogan on his T-shirt also adorned with an image of Trump in a three-piece suit, looking rather rakish, giving the finger. “I’m pretty much the only right-winger doing guerrilla art. I’m like patient zero, the first one doing this on our side.”
He has decorated his home with samples of his work: a framed toilet seat with Barack Obama’s face and mouth; a life-sized poster of Bernie Sanders with Soviet tattoos and diaper “full of free shit”; a billboard-style portrait of Hillary Clinton as a maniacal queen.
Another billboard declares that “Black lives are just matter”, accompanied by a Planned Parenthood logo and an abortion-themed punchline: “We’ve killed more blacks than the klan.”

Police imprison man for Facebook post against Islam

(Gateway Pundit)  -  The Sussex police force in the U.K. arrested a man for condemning the evil of Islam and calling it out online.

The man was “jailed for stirring up religious hatred in Facebook posts”:

A man is facing more than a year behind bars for attempting to stir up religious hatred in Sussex.
Nigel Pelham was charged with eight counts of publishing threatening written material intending to stir up religious hatred against Muslims on dates between February 24 and November 16, 2015 on his own Facebook account. The charges are not used very often and are so serious they need Attorney General approval to be brought against someone.
Pelham, 50, of Freehold Street, Shoreham appeared on March 7 at Lewes Crown Court and pleaded guilty to the offences.
On June 16 he was sentenced at Blackfriars Crown Court in London to 20 months for each of the eight counts to run concurrently. He also has to pay £100 victim surcharge and has had two hard drives and his tower computer confiscated.

Tax breaks to hire foreigners instead of Americans

Screwing Over American Citizens
Note again that the GOP controlled Congress
does nothing to help American workers.

The federal government quietly helped and rewarded companies and universities which hired roughly 330,000 cheap foreign graduates in 2016 instead of hiring American graduates, many of whom are deep in debt.

The little-known “Optional Practical Training” program has grown from 91,140 new foreign job-seekers in 2009 to 329,158 new job-seekers in 2016, according to data provided by the Department of Homeland Security. That is almost a four-fold increase in seven years — and the program is growing even larger in 2017 reports Breitbart.

There is no cap on the OPT program, which quietly and semi-automatically gives work permits lasting up to three years when requested by foreign students who graduate from U.S. universities and colleges. Companies are not required to even interview Americans before hiring OPT graduates — and they get tax breaks for hiring foreigners over Americans.

“The government is enticing employers to hire foreigners instead of Americans … it is ridiculous,” said Mark Krikorian, director of the D.C.-based Center for Immigration Studies. Even the middle-class Americans who have downplayed the impact of cheap-labor immigration on blue-collar Americans should be alarmed by the government’s discrimination against their own college-graduate children, he added.

In 2014, the OPT program provided work permits to 249,998 foreign graduates, according to the data provided to Breitbart News by the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the program. Two years later, the number of new foreign graduates entering the program had risen by 32 percent up to 329,158.

Should we break up Amazon and Google?

We Need A Teddy Roosevelt

  • Corporations and their drive to create monopolies not only allows price fixing but creates super-powerful political powers who buy and sell members of Congress.
  • Pure Capitalism says allow business to do what it wants.  But what if 90% of pharmacies were controlled by a single multinational corporation? A company so huge they could sell below cost in order to crush any new company entering their market.

(Fast Company)  -  “Amazon just bought Whole Foods,” my friend texted me seconds after the announcement of the proposed acquisition. “It’s over. The world.”
This unease is widespread, and has raised new calls for breaking up Jeff Bezos’s impending monopoly by force. Surely the company, which now generates 30% of all online and offline retail sales growth in the United States, and already controls 40% of internet cloud services, has reached too far.
Whatever you may think of Jeff Bezos, and whether or not antitrust regulations can justifiably be applied to a company whose expansion doesn’t raise but actually lowers costs for end consumers, may be beside the point. Many of us get that something is amiss, but are ourselves so deeply enmeshed in the logic of last century’s version of free-market industrial capitalism that we can’t quite bring ourselves to call this out for the threat it poses to our markets, our economy, and even our planet.

The reason why monopolies were broken up in an industrial economy was that they tended to gain control over the platforms through which their products were distributed. The biggest oil company ends up controlling shipping and refineries, the biggest airline controls too many gates, and the biggest phone company controls the wires.

But in a digital economy, the platform is the business. Netflix content sells its platform. Apple’s devices sell its supposed “ecosystem.” Amazon’s book business, like Uber’s cab business, was just an easy foothold—the low-hanging fruit of an existing but inefficient marketplace—through which to establish a platform monopoly. From that beachhead, the company then pivots to other verticals.

The problem is, when an existing market is merely a means to another end, the company doesn’t consider the long-term effects of its actions. Amazon treated the book industry the same way companies like Walmart once treated the territories into which they expanded: Use a war chest of capital to undercut prices, put competitors out of business, become the sole employer in the community, turn employees into part-time shift workers, lobby for deregulation, and effectively extract all the value from a given region before closing up shop and moving to the next one.

It’s not that internet founders are somehow more evil or rapacious than their forebears. It’s simply that when companies are platforms, survivability and scalability amount to the same thing. Just as winner-takes-all network effects lead to just one Taylor Swift and millions of penniless artists, these same dynamics promote the establishment of platform monopolies like Amazon.
